Drivers must be over the age of 16 years and must hold a registered driver?s license in their state. Different states have different classes of license for drivers of motorbikes. Some states require a special license for those who want to operate a motorcycle. If so, the same license will hold good for a gas scooter also.
Gas scooters need proper registration even though they are low capacity bikes. They have to be registered with the Dept of Transportation in the corresponding state. The registration and the accompanying tag must be renewed every year.
Like other motor vehicles, gas scooters too may be driven on roads and are therefore subject to all the rules and regulations that are binding on motor vehicles on the road. Drivers must comply with speed limits and obey traffic signal rules. In some states, drivers of motorbikes are required to wear protective helmets.
