How to get to Big Bend in Texas
Big Bend is one of the most remote areas of the lower 48 states. For this reason, it may be difficult to visit if you have a good idea about how to get here and how to get around once you're here. Driving

Car rental is easy, and if you get to El Paso or Midland Airport, car rentals are available at the airport. Alpine and Terlingua have smaller rental operations, which provide a local outlet.
Arriving train
Traveling by train in West Texas is a long tradition. Schedules may vary, but Amtrak's Sunset Limited runs through the Alpine 3 times week from each direction. From here you will probably want to rent a vehicle to continue south toward Big Bend National Park. It is wise to do more time and flexibility in the plan, if you are traveling by train, but the scenery is worth it.
Taking Bus
How Alpine by bus is easy, and the service is available from the Midland airport. This is not a scheduled stop, so Visitors should note Midland Greyhound terminal, one hour before pick up. The unit takes about 4 hours. Options are also available from El Paso (2 sailings per day) and San Antonio (2 per day).
Motorcycles
One of the best ways to see Big Bend, is from the back of the motorcycle or scooter. Region features hundreds of kilometers of roads and scenic winding curves. The operation is usually very light, so cyclists rarely have to worry. The weather is generally great bike all year round. Most businesses in the area are friendly motorcycle and Big Bend hosts several motorcycle events throughout the year.
