Motor vehicle refuses to give license plate?
We bought Shanghai JMStar motor scooter 150cc, new from the factory. It must be the husband commutes on nice days. Legally this is a motorcycle, so we have and and insured. We turned to Cert. origin to obtain title and that he was sent away. Only when my husband came back to get the board was told, the bike was titled as an ATV and this condition can ATV riding on the road. What can we do? He was so excited about it. Our state is Indiana, and we had to have the police came out first and check it and give us the correct paperwork, which he did. I think we make fourth trip to the DMV to argue with those ugly old officials.
The first guy said, you can try just getting them to look at it. But I also understand that in most states still do something through the department of motor vehicles, is a nightmare. A rule significantly vary from state to state, but most people will not know what hoops to jump through in their own country! But other suggestion I have is to try to get it re-titled. If you have a title of ATV you should probably be able to apply for a new title with a different classification. More option would be to put it back to the factory or the dealer who sold it to you - as represented by a bicycle on the street legal they would refund your money if it can not be licensed. I do not envy your headaches, I'd be angry about it too. Good luck, I even say a prayer for you (it sounds like you could use some help from above!)
