Detroit, or the world, never produced a car that rivals the muscle cars from 1960 and early 1970's. They were big, strong and wonderfully unrefined. No one would call them sports car in the traditional sense. They were not nimble and curves are dangerous in most any speed. However, what they lacked in sophistication, which are in brut force. In many ways the GTO, Mustang, Road Runners and their brethren represented the American character better than any vehicle in the past and present. Simplicity, reliability, strength and singularity of purpose were their calling cards. Nobody not confuse the purpose of these beasts. It was obvious to all, and straight-line results for the quarter mile. Nothing else mattered.

Contrast that with today, and traditions of the past days has become even more apparent. New Corvette defeats its strongest Corvette of old in each category. The current generation of performance cars muscle car strikes safe, comfort, reliability and, yes, performance. But that does not tell everything, and it does not explain the current interest and the corresponding values sky rocketing classic muscle cars. The clear purpose of these super cars exuberated just a good feeling. Cave man awakens in each of us! These cars are special position on the generation that came of age in the late 1960th Many feel that this is their last chance to re-live their youth and are willing to pay for the opportunity.

For example, 1970 Dodge Hemi 'Cuda sold for $ 4,035 new and well-preserved models are routinely offered a $ 150,000 today. Which represents a 10.6% annual return. Not a bad return on the stock market returned 7.4% a year in the same period. Similarly, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible with the engine 454c sold for $ 4,200 new and will cost around $ 115,000, or 9.7% annual yield. Finally, 1969 Boss Mustang with a 429ci engine original price 4150 dollars and now trading at $ 115,000. This is 9.6% return over the same period.

Granted these are examples of the rarest and most sought after Muscle Cars. But even "ordinary" Muscle Cars has led to significant gains. 1970 Plymouth Road Runner with a 440ci engine sold for $ 3,500 and today trades at $ 55,000. 1967 Pontiac GTO price of $ 3,750 and now pays for $ 45,000. This is a 6.8% rate of return.

Investor in muscle cars must consider some very important points. First, all investments have risks. This market, as is in real estate or technology stocks, decline as rapidly as growing. Secondly, unlike stocks and money market investments, muscle cars do not pay dividends or interest. In fact, they cost money to maintain, store and again. Thirdly, a rarity issues. As the numbers above, the rarest muscle cars have formed the best. Finally, get a second opinion when considering classic muscle car. Mechanics is a good choice, and a mechanic who has restored several cars really is the best choice. Nothing beats experience.

It is clear that one of the most important variables to consider when considering muscle cars such investment is a prerequisite. Only the most original and well restored examples bring these prices. Common version or conditions in the lower car will be sold at significantly lower. For collectors who really want to manage their Cars periodically common versions may actually be better value.

Selection of rare collector cars muscle or daily driver depends on budget, and purpose of the collector. Both offer unique advantages for owners and a lot entertainment. Chance to re-live our youth is always a pleasant experience.
