Gas powered scooters have been around about 1900, right around the same time as the cars were first beginning to hit the market. Were very rough machines. Scooters have come a long way over the years. In the event that there are 2 things that stick out me about scooters, it is this:

1st Fuel: Most models 50cc get over 100mpg and the larger ones usually get over 50mpg.
2nd Affordable: smaller models can be run, brand new, for under $ 2000. Larger models can be slightly more expensive hitting the $ 9000 range, but still excellent value for what you get.

Fun, affordable and effective. Yeah and to some degree too cold.
