CH 80 Honda Scooter Running Rough?
I just restored 85 Honda CH80 Elite Scooter, who sat for 20 + years in the garage, the gas in the tank whole time. I took the tank radiator shop, cleaned out carbs, changed the spark plugs and shot straight up. However seems to run rough. Many vibration while driving, speed is not everything, what can be. The issue is Carb / Fuel system, or is it valve timing, or the problem? At the present time, because I think the radiator shop could not be fully cleaned tank properly. I have rigged a plastic soda bottle into the tube as recorded on the little gas tank.as temporary tank. Seems to work fine this morning and ran rough. But when I went to start this afternoon it started. I left gas from bowl and running. It carb floods rigged up as a bottle? My Jets need to replace the carb? It has a pin connected to float off to be replaced? I have to try and attach it to the tank and run it bleed valve?
I also restore '85 ch80. There are several possible causes of the problem you describe. You say you "cleaned carb" .. clean it again, and be careful and thorough .. just the smallest bit of painted fuel or particles cause problems. Take the whole carb itself, not just float bowl. Clean plug, if it still runs rough then pull the plug, and then re-examine ... if it is black and a little moist Search ... your carb problem. If it is white or brown cocoa seek the view of the suction pipe o-ring for cracks .. it may be sucking air, and therefore runs too lean. There is a fuel enrichment valve in carbohydrates with two wires attached ... these wires through the kick panel, which can be torn apart ... Ohm is a multi-meter ... should read less than 10 ohms ... if more ... replace (e-bay $ 29). Make sure the air filter is clean ... if it looks very dirty, try to remove element ... when it runs fine ... replace filter ($ 10 ... bikebandit). There is also an inline fuel filter located in the tank ... if that bike Sat so long ... replace it ... period (Wal-Mart, $ 3 Briggs and Stratton mower section, or auto parts store). Next drain the float bowl to get something clean to see ... If there is anything in it ... if there is ... there's your problem. There is also a 20 micron screen outake the fuel in the fuel tank ... access by removing the vacuum petcock .. Maybe worth a look. Is likely that at least 80% of carbohydrates that you need better cleaning, buy a can of carbohydrates cleaner, get the old brush the teeth and gently clean ... everything here carefully and are not valid. It will run ... and it will run very well ... Be patient. Much luck. Oh yes ... and use 92 octane fuel ... 91 minimum recommended factory and now ... you can get all the flash. Hope this helps.
