cushman scooters
help with questions about motorcycle project?
I have a 1964 Cushman Eagle scooter, I restored and installed Vanguard 2 cyl engine, I'm using original 2 speed Trans and Cushman centrifigal clutch, leaving few desirable, I would like to install the older British motorcycle trans and clutch as Triumph or BSA, etc. My question is british bikes have a "wet" clutch and I was wondering if anyone knows if I use "dry" friction plates? Cushman clutch is dry and has an open primary, so if someone knows british machine let me know what you think ... thanks
The reason for the "wet" clutch is that clutch stock motor case lower the engine and tranny. It seems that as Harley-Davidson type clutch and trans-set-up would work well for your Cushman, how dry clutch and a separate broadcasting. BMW transmissions also use a dry clutch, but the drive output shaft appears to complicate things even more.
